Elvira Macrae Award Recipients from 2014

In 2013 Elvira Macrae, a former very successful RAD teacher resident in Tauranga, generously donated a substantial sum of money to provide financial support to talented young dancers showing outstanding ability and potential.  An Elvira Macrae Award is made at each biennial 14+ Dance Scholarship event.

2014 Katherine Sonnekus
Katherine is a former student of the Mount Eden Ballet Academy in Auckland. In 2015 Katherine was a semi-finalist in the Alana Haines Awards, receiving a scholarship to the Royal Danish Ballet Summer School; and was runner-up at the Sydney Eisteddfod McDonalds Ballet Scholarship. Katherine studied fulltime at the Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy in Sydney.  After competing in the Prix de Lausanne in 2016, Katherine was offered a full Corps de Ballet Contract with The Australian Ballet.

2016 Larissa Kiyoto-Ward
Larissa is a student of the Mt Eden Ballet Academy in Auckland. She was presented with her award by judges, Nicola Searchfield and David Peden. Winner of the Supreme Award in the 13-14 Year Group of The Australian Ballet School Scholarship Awards, Larissa won a scholarship of 12 months tuition at The Australian Ballet School.

2018 Rebekah Terry
Rebekah is a student of Mount Eden Ballet Academy in Auckland.  She is shown right with Gloria Macrae, daughter of Elvira Macrae.
